The Study on the Maternal Attitude by PARI
Abstract
The author administered the Parental Attitude Research Instrument to a group of 93 mothers (tested group) of high school students who had no apparent psychiatric disturbances and compared them with the results (compared group) which were obtained in the United States of America.
The following represents some of the conclusion the author was able to obtain:
1. The tested group scored the highest (18.16) on the Fostering dependency scale and the lowest (13.02) on the Rejection of homemaking role.
2.The tested group scored generally higher on most of scales (19 out of 23 scales) than the compared group.
3. Such differences were found considerably significant on the scales of Fostering dependency, Martyrdom, Suppression of sexuality and Intrusiveness. It was impressed that those differences were reflective of different socio-cultural background.
4. The educational level of the tested group did not seem to be a significant variable accounting for most of the between-group differences in attitude.
